We stayed for 5 nights in the tipi which is for hire at the hostel and we loved it! It's the perfect compromise when travelling on budget but wishing for some comfort, too. The tipi is very comfortable and spacious, it has a double bed (!), two chairs and a little table. Pillows and warm blanket are provided and they kept us warm even on a colder night. It's very easy to forget you are sleeping in a tent so don't be surprised if it gets a little noisy at windy and rainy nights.
The hostel is great. We loved the kitchen - it's huge and very well equipped. Everything was comfy and clean and it's easy to make yourself at home there. The staff (Kelly and Heloise) are very friendly and helpful, too.
We found the location perfect as a base for trips to the Cliffs of Moher (8 km from the hostel, overall a 16km hike in a very manageable terrain), the Burren or the Aran Islands. We couldn't wish for a better place to stay while exploring the western coast.
Very well run and great staff, will definitely return there.
Loved the atmosphere and felt it was very welcoming. Place is clean, cozy and the hosts was very friendly. Would definitely go again
We are just back from a 2 night family camping trip... 2 couples and 7 kids between us, we were blown away with the warm welcome we received, very clean facilities from toilets, shower and kitchen. We had full use of all facilities.. hopefully we will get more bookings throughout the summer because we will most definitely be returning.
Camped here many times with groups of kids and adults. Staff are always very friendly especially the owners Robert and Adva (hope I’ve spelled that correctly) Chilled sort of place, amazing location to explore the burren, cliffs of moher, best surfing, rock climbing and caving in ireland all a short drive away. As Arnie says “I’ll be back” ?
Excellent accueil. Propre. Petit terrain de camping à l'abri très convivial. Cuisine et salle pour manger très confortables

Amazing place, the best hostel of the area! The living room with the fire and a cup of tea or coffee is really cosy. The friendly people; I had it cold and she gave me her hoodini; I had a little wound and they took care of it. The amazing kitchen where they have filtered drinking water. You can do your laundry for free and dry it for just €2. They serve breakfast for €1,5 and you have 3 options. It's a beautiful camping next to the river. We had such a great time over there! Thanks!
Where do I start? We LOVED the place! Super friendly staff, clean kitchen with access to everything, from gas stove to fridge, clean shower and toilets and a cozy sitting room with a lovely fire in the evenings and no extra costs. Also books, guitar and board games available.
Great hostel in centre of Doolin. We had great weather and decided to camp. Hiked along the cliffs of moher walk. ( option to get shuttle bus back if needed untill early evening about 6 pm i think? )
Very cosy and friendly hostel free wifi. Free clothes washing. Kitchen clean and well stocked with utensils. Also free coffee and tea.
Very friendly and helpful staff! Beautiful location. Super well equiped kitchen with everything you need and more. Above all an amazing atmosphere in and around the hostel with a nice fireplace in the living room, which is very welcoming in rainy Ireland. The only downside of this hostel is that the next one won't be as good. ;)
Stayed: August 2019
Teepee was great, bigger than it looked in the pictures. Right beside the river which was nice. Stays nice and dry despite the winds and rain.
We slept in the Tipi next to the river. It was really cool and cosy. The house is beautiful and the recommendations of the host were great. We had a great time.
We stayed in the tipi tent and it was a great experience. The hostel is in a good location in case you want to grab some food in a cafe or pub in the evening. We had a nice 2 h walk from the hostel to Cliffs of Moher, but there is bus stop close buy as well. Simple nice breakfast is available in the morning.
We stayed in the private tipi and loved it! Would definitely recommend.
This is a fantastic hostel in Doolin. Super friendly staff and so helpful and kind. We camped out and had a ball. It is in a beautiful spot and the hostel is delightful. Highly recommend staying here.
Reception really good and the hotel very clean ,I saw staff washing bedding things everyday .the kitchen big and have everything you need and you free cook your food anytime you want. All staff so friendly and helpful makes you feel in home . 2mins get the bus station to Galway and the cliff ,very handy to do everything as the hostel just in the heart of the village .The hostel Even busy but never messy.definitely recommend to solo travellers or family tourists. Thanks
We loved our time here staff were very welcoming and friendly. Great atmosphere met some lovely people too who were also staying at this hostel. We camped out the back and got to use the amenities. Would recommend Aille river hostel to anyone staying here. Thanks.
Very friendly hosts and access to all hostel facilities also for people camping in the backyard.
Lovely people and area
Great location, close to the tourist office, pubs & bus stop. Small pitch area but really clean & level. Staff are very friendly.
Liked: Staff, facilities, location, price.
The site was beautiful and we had lovely pitch by the river
Highly recommend this hostel with camping facility, which we used, international feel, clean, well run, cooking facility very spacious with free tea and coffee available, large spacious fridges and storage for food for self catering, filtered drinking water a plus. we had our dog with which is also a plus and she was very well behaved, another couple also had a dog with and also very well behaved.Stormy night with bad rain but its location inside a walled off garden meant we were safe and protected.
We stayed in the tepe tent, it is positioned near a river it was very calming and it was a great experience. The staff were friendly and helpful. Loads of utensils to make breakfast in the morning. Near to local pubs which have music on from early in the day.
Super friendly staff and so helpful and kind. We camped out and had a ball. It is in a beautiful spot and the hostel is delightful. Highly recommend staying here.
The teepee was beautiful. Set in a quiet corner of the hostel grounds right next to the river, it was very peaceful. The staff were very friendly and it had all the usual hostel amenities.
As someone who loves the outdoors, I was absolutely thrilled to be able to stay in the tipi tent for five days! The tent is located right on the river, which was incredible, and the facilities in the hostel building were easy to access. I had an amazing trip and would definitely come again.
The tipi was a perfect place to stay. It was a beautiful outdoor space with all of the hostel amenities. It was glamping at its finest. Our hostess was amazingly kind and gave us the suggestion to walk to the Cliffs of Moher. It was an hour and a half or more walk, and it was stunning the whole way! I would definitely recommend this experience!
Really cool tipi on the hostel grounds so you can use all their facilities. Located 5 minute walk away from main pubs and restaurants in Doolin.

Stayed 2 nights in the cozy Tipi tent, which was a really nice experience. Lots of space and comfort. Everything was as described, lovely staff.
It's was a great night at Aille River Hostel. You should try the tipi!
It’s a lovely setting and very comfortable. The hostel is in a great location and staff were friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay again :)

Really comfortable and spacious tipi, the hostel is clean, confy and well organized and the receptionist was lovely!
A beautiful place to camp, hostel or glamp when visiting Clare / the cliffs of Moher. Close to the main bits of Doolin, and about 10 mins walk from the start of the cliffs walk.
Lovely environment and excellent kitchens and showers etc.
Special place to stay in the middle of the village and close to the cliffs of moher.
beside the river which is really cool for the relaxing sound especially at night. Tipi is a bit bright at night due to surrounding lights so bring a travel/sleep eye mask if you need darkness to sleep. Hostel facilities are good and near the tipi. Location in Doolin is fantastic. Nice spot to stay.

It was really cool and cosy. The house is beautiful and the recommendations of the host were great. We had a great time.
Een geweldige plaats om te overnachten, wij verbleven 3 dagen op de camping en mochten gebruik maken van alle faciliteiten van de hostel, voelt als thuis, love this place :-) :-) we komen zeker nog eens terug
Date of stay: May 2019
So easy to camp there, 9 euro a head, The location is perfect after being over to the islands all day to have grub and pints between the 3 villages of Doolin then off into our tent by the river.
Excellent thank you
It is without hesitation the best hostel in our Irish journey! While the campground is a bit small but it is sheltered from the wind by stone wall, which is not insignificant in this windy area. Opportunity to visit the Cliffs of Moher the coastal path located steps. Common rooms (living room, dining room, kitchen ...) are a picturesque charm, peat fire and old stone floor. The inn offers a courtesy tea and coffee. The staff (speaking French to some) was very friendly and welcoming, even helping us to organize the rest of our trip with advice that we were very practical. Possibility of free use of the washing machine. Very good price / quality I highly recommend!
A conseiller!

We were travelling around Co. Clare, The Burren and Co. Galway on motorbikes. We were camping everywhere, but after visiting the Cliffs of Moher decided we were ready to camp for the night. We drove the short distance to Doolin and were delighted by Aille River Hostel.
We were able to camp in the grounds but avail of the amenities (such as roomy warm showers, toilets, kitchen etc). And even though it was May, the wood-burning stove was most welcome to sit in front of before settling down for the night.
Staff were superb, friendly and very helpful - would highly recommend.
My husband and I spent a perfect night camping in the grounds of Aille River Hostel in Doolin and what a privilege that was!. The camp site was perfect...level, soft earth and beautifully sheltered by a stone wall. The hostel itself is one of the best I've visited...immaculately clean, piping hot showers, very friendly and welcoming staff and owner, a wonderful wood burning stove and large kitchen....unfortunately we could only stay one night but we will be back both to enjoy the physical space and to meet more interesting characters. the icing on the cake was the fact that Glenedd our dog was welcomed and other guests even played ball and threw the stick for him so all in all thank you Robert and staff for a hugely enjoyable experience in the magical Aille River Hostel.
